Information We Collect
We collect two types of data and information from Users:
- Non-personal Information. The first type of information is un-identified and non-identifiable information, which may be made available or gathered via your use of the Site. We are not aware of the identity of a User from which the Non-personal Information was collected. Terms & Conditions
Hotel Hamacas, Santa Catalina, Veraguas, Panama Effective Date: June 2026
Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before making a reservation or using any services offered by our hotel. By completing a booking, you agree to be bound by these terms in their entirety.
1. Reservations & Booking Confirmation
All reservations are subject to availability and are not confirmed until you receive a written confirmation from us via email.
- A valid credit card or deposit is required to secure all bookings.
- Last-minute requests are subject to availability and must be confirmed directly with the hotel.
- Reservations made through third-party platforms (Booking.com, Airbnb, Expedia, etc.) are subject to those platforms’ additional terms.
- The hotel reserves the right to refuse or cancel any reservation at its discretion.
- All rates are quoted in US Dollars (USD), the official currency of Panama, and include all applicable tourism taxes (ITBMS) with no hidden fees.
2. Payment Terms
The hotel accepts the following forms of payment: cash (USD), major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard), and bank transfers (where applicable).
- A deposit of 50% of the total booking value may be required at the time of booking.
- The remaining balance is due upon check-in unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- The hotel is not responsible for any fees or charges imposed by the guest’s bank or card issuer.
3. Cancellation & Refund Policy
The following cancellation policy applies to direct bookings. Third-party bookings are governed by the terms of the respective platform.
- Cancellations made 72 hours (3 working days) or more before the check-in date: full refund of any deposit paid.
- Cancellations made less than 72 hours before check-in: 100% of the room rate will be charged.
- No-shows: 100% of the total booking value will be charged. No-shows due to travel delays, flight cancellations, or any other reason are treated as cancellations — no exceptions.
- All cancellations must be submitted in writing via email. Verbal cancellations will not be accepted.
- Refunds, where applicable, will be processed within 7–14 business days via the original payment method.
- The hotel reserves the right to apply different cancellation terms during peak seasons, public holidays, or special events. These will be communicated at the time of booking.
4. Check-In & Check-Out
- Standard check-in time: 2:00 PM. Standard check-out time: 11:00 AM.
- Early check-in and late check-out may be available upon request and subject to availability. Additional charges may apply.
- A valid government-issued photo ID or passport is required for all guests upon check-in, as required by Panamanian law.
- Guests must be 18 years of age or older to make a reservation and check in independently.
- A room inspection is conducted at check-out to verify the inventory and condition of all items.
5. Guest Conduct & Responsibilities
Guests are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful manner toward staff, other guests, and the surrounding community at all times.
- Quiet hours are observed between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM.
- Third-party visitors are not permitted in guest rooms. Only registered guests may access the rooms, for the safety and privacy of all guests.
- The number of guests staying in each room must not exceed the stated occupancy limit.
- Parties, events, or gatherings of outside guests on the property are not permitted without prior written authorization from management.
- Unacceptable behaviour — including aggression, harassment, or disregard for other guests — will result in immediate removal from the property and forfeiture of the full reservation cost.
- The possession or use of illegal drugs on hotel property is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate removal and may be reported to Panamanian authorities.
- Guests are responsible for any damage caused to the room, furnishings, or hotel property during their stay. The cost of repairs or replacements will be charged to the credit card on file.
6. Smoking Policy
In accordance with Panamanian law (Executive Decree No. 1838 of December 5, 2014), smoking is strictly prohibited in all indoor areas of the hotel, including guest rooms, common areas, and any enclosed spaces.
- Smoking is only permitted in designated outdoor areas.
- Guests who smoke in a room or non-designated area will be subject to a mandatory cleaning fee of USD $300, charged automatically to the credit card on file.
- The Panamanian government may additionally levy a fine of up to USD $5,000 for violations of the national no-smoking law.
- This policy applies to cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes/vaping).
7. Tours & Activities
The hotel may offer or facilitate bookings for third-party tours and activities, including but not limited to Coiba National Park tours, surfing lessons, horseback riding, and snorkeling excursions.
- Tour bookings require advance payment and are subject to their own specific cancellation policies, which will be communicated at the time of booking.
- Tours may be cancelled or rescheduled due to adverse weather conditions, sea conditions, or force majeure events. In such cases, the hotel will offer a full refund or a free reschedule.
- Guests participating in outdoor or adventure activities do so at their own risk. The hotel strongly recommends appropriate travel and activity insurance.
- Guests must disclose any relevant medical conditions or physical limitations prior to participating in any activity.
- Visits to Coiba National Park require an official entry permit managed by MiAmbiente/ANAM. Permit fees are typically included in tour packages but will be itemized separately on the invoice.
8. Limitation of Liability
- The hotel shall not be held liable for the loss, theft, or damage of personal belongings. All rooms are equipped with a security locker; guests are strongly encouraged to store valuables there.
- The hotel is not responsible for injuries, accidents, or incidents that occur outside the hotel premises or during third-party activities.
- The hotel’s liability for any claim shall not exceed the total amount paid by the guest for the reservation in question.
- The hotel shall not be liable for any failure to perform its obligations due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, power outages, government actions, or pandemics (force majeure).
9. Privacy Policy
We are committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with applicable Panamanian law (Law 81 of 2019 on Personal Data Protection).
- Personal information collected during the booking process (name, passport number, contact details, payment information) is used solely for the purpose of managing your reservation and stay.
- Guest data will not be sold, shared, or disclosed to third parties except as required by Panamanian law or regulatory authorities.
- Guests may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal data by contacting us directly.
10. Important Local Information
If this is your first time visiting Santa Catalina, please take note of the following:
- Santa Catalina is a rural, natural destination without full urban infrastructure. It is located 5–6 hours from Panama City and 2–3 hours from the city of Santiago.
- There are no banks in Santa Catalina. There is 1 ATM, but it is not always working. We strongly recommend bringing sufficient cash (USD) for activities, meals, and personal expenses.
- There is no fuel station in Santa Catalina. Please fill up your vehicle in Santiago or Soná before arriving.
- Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, though internet speed may vary depending on network load and weather conditions.
- Santa Catalina is a surf and eco-destination — some amenities available in larger cities may not be available here. We appreciate your understanding and adaptability.
11. Intellectual Property
All content on the hotel’s website, including photographs, text, logos, and branding, is the property of the hotel and may not be reproduced, distributed, or used for commercial purposes without prior written consent.
12. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Panama. Any disputes arising from or related to these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of the Republic of Panama.
We encourage guests to contact us directly in the first instance to resolve any concerns or complaints before pursuing formal legal action.
13. Amendments to These Terms
The hotel reserves the right to update or modify these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice. The most current version will always be published on our website and will apply to all bookings made from that date forward.
